PharmAid is the annual re-distribution of recently outdated copies of the British National Formulary to pharmacists, doctors and other allied health professions to over 45 Commonwealth developing countries who are Member Associations of CPA. The books are collected by AAH Pharmaceuticals from community and hospital pharmacies during a specified week in November each year and the company’s network of distribution points allow the books to be returned to London – at no charge to CPA.
Other essential collaborators are Book Aid International who assist with the administration of the Scheme and the Pharmaceutical Press of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain who donate books that remain in their warehouse. The books are consigned to the member organisation in each of the countries who will then redistribute the books.
Between seven to ten thousand copies of the BNF are sent abroad each year and although PharmAid is the most practical way that British health professions can make a real difference to the quality of therapeutic care in developing countries.
If you would like to donate your copy of the BNF to the Scheme please contact: admin@commonwealthpharmacy.org or to make a donation to the costs of shipping the books overseas please go to Paypal Donate at the bottom of the page.
The annual collection will be undertaken on behalf of CPA by the pharmaceutical wholesaler AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd between the 7 – 11 November, 2011. Collection details are given by clicking on the links below:
