Message from the President
In the modern environment, communication and access to information has become an easy and essential way of life for many. The CPA website has become one of our essential communication and information tools. Welcome to this site. Your interest is valuable to us, and we hope that the information will be valuable to you.
At the recent meeting of the CPA Council, two important resolutions were adopted. The first was an amendment to the CPA Constitution that now requires the CPA Council to meet at least every two years. This used to be every 4 years. The most significant effect that this will have should be an increase in the activities benefiting member organisations and pharmacists in practice in the Commonwealth Countries. The improvement in the quality and range of services provided by pharmacist in line with national and global health challenges will improve the health of our communities.
The second resolution was to change the name of the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association to the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association. This name change more clearly highlights the focus area of the CPA. Our objective is to empower and improve pharmaceutical service delivery by pharmacists, which will result in pharmacists offering important and responsible assistance in dealing with global and national health challenges.
The future direction and activities of the CPA are the joint responsibilities of myself, the elected vice-presidents, Mr. Hemant Patel and Dr Nkwenti Davidson Achu, supported by the regional representatives, the Secretary Mr. John Bell and the CPA Secretariat. The past president, Dr E Grace Allen- Young, forms part of this group and her dedicated leadership over the past 4 years will benefit and support the new executive committee.
Regular visits to this website are essential for you to be informed about the activities and benefits the CPA can offer you.
Ivan Kotzé, BPharm, MCPA, FPS President
