World Malaria Day

On 25 April, 2000 at a Summit attended by African leaders the Abuja Declaration was signed. The Declaration committed governments to halve the burden of Malaria in Africa by the year 2010.
The leaders also agreed that each year the 25 April should be declared "Africa Malaria Day" to raise the awareness of the situation of malaria in Africa.
