Developments and Changes taking place by the year 2025?

1) Political, Social and Economic considerations

• Will the Commonwealth still be in existence?
• What will be the Commonwealth links and priorities in 2025?
• Will there still be Economic deprivation in Commonwealth countries?
• What will be the population changes in the Commonwealth?
• Will the age profile of Commonwealth countries will be a factor in determining economies?
• Will there be changes in life expectancy?
• What will be the public expenditure on health in Commonwealth countries?
• How will health expenditure be resourced in the future?

2) Health considerations

• What will be the key health considerations in 2025?
• What will be the prevalence of the key diseases of today – eg HIV/AIDs, TB, Malaria?
• How will health promotion and disease prevention be tackled by 2025?
• What healthcare support will be needed or be available in 2025?
• What will be the effect of e-health in providing care in 2025?
• What new technologies will influence healthcare by 2025?
• What will be the legal changes in operation in 2025 for the supply and use of medicines?

3) Healthcare Planning

• How will "disaster planning" be organised in 2025?
• What will be the key disaster issues in 2025?
• How will a healthy workforce be assured?
• How will countries maintain and retain numbers of healthcare professionals?
• Will the training of healthcare professionals be changing in the future?

4) Working together

• How can Pharmacists be used to improve healthcare in Commonwealth countries?
• What does the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association need to do to prepare for the future?
• What support will each Commonwealth country require?
• How can these changes be communicated to Pharmacists around the Commonwealth?

CPA is encouraging its member organisations and its members to make a submission on what they feel will emerge to have an impact on health care directly or indirectly relating to pharmacy by 2025. A prize will be awarded to the member organisation or member sending in the best submission.
