Pharmacists Fight TB - an international web-based initiative - 22nd May 2005

CPA President Grace Allen Young and IPSF President Tana Wuliji met in Geneva during May at the World Health Assembly to officially launch a new website http://www.pharmacistsfighttb.org/. A joint initiative of CPA and IPSF, the site is designed to raise awareness among pharmacists and pharmacy students of the issues surrounding the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis (TB). The site features downloadable resources, an email discussion group, a text only version of the site and a literature review on the expanding role of pharmacists in TB management. Both Presidents agreed that promoting TB awareness, optimising therapy and providing patient support is essential in reducing the continual emergence of multi-drug resistance to the infection.
