Distance Learning Programme
The Management of Pharmaceutical Supply
CPA's course "The Management of Pharmaceutical Supply" is a distance learning program for all pharmacist and non-pharmacist managers involved with drug supply procurement and management, especially at the regional level. A revision of the course was undertaken by the University of Limpopo, Medunsa Campus in 2005 in an effort to introduce basic therapeutics and information on medicines used to treat HIV/AIDS and malaria. The course does not require the student to take leave from his / her employment.
Pharmaceutical Supply Management is an increasingly important aspect of health care, as we battle to contain and to reduce the huge burden of disease due to, among other causes, the scourges of HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. Without medicines, positive medicine outcomes are not possible. With relevant and effective medicines, provided where and when they are needed and administered in appropriate doses, we can offer good health and hope to patients.
This course is all about how we can achieve the objective of efficient and effective supply of medicines. Unlike many other courses, it is offered in distance learning format, so that learners can study in their own time, where they choose and not have to travel, or be away from their important work, to do so.
Pharmacists, doctors, nurses, technicians, store clerks, clinic staff and health administrators from more than 30 countries successfully completed the previous course, which has now been updated and revised to accommodate current needs and recent developments.
